Now What?

Now What?

I choose not to participate in the recession...Even if the economy doesn’t get as bad as I fear it will, the media will constantly remind you that doomsday is right around the corner. Panic sells, but if you buy into the hype you’re in trouble.

So now what? How do you learn to think rationally when the world is acting irrationally? It seems we have no choice but to adopt the recession mindset – the mindset we all go to when times are tough. This is a problem, because it opens the door for poor decision making and loss of control.

A mindset is a mental attitude that pre determines how you interpret and respond to situations. If you have the right mindset – it doesn’t matter what the market does – your mindset controls everything. It can give you the emotional security you need in an overwhelming emotional time.
It’s hard not to slip into a recession mindset right now; it certainly feels like the right thing to “do”. It’s not. Does the economic downturn have an effect on you? You bet it does. But it doesn’t have to have the same effect on your business acumen or your decision making.

To survive and flourish in this economy, you must act. There are opportunities in all tough situations, and instead of allowing the Recession Mindset to take hold, I want you to adopt what I call an Abundance Mindset.

This doesn’t mean I want you to be naive, or irresponsible. If you haven’t already reviewed your financial and other situations and prepared for the worst case scenario – then do so now.

Creating an Abundance Mindset is about letting reason reign instead of emotion. You want to start looking at areas of your life where you can exert control. Label the things you cannot control – the economy, the markets, the media hype, and ignore them. Only focus on the things within your control, like your level of exposure and risk, what you are reading, how you are thinking, what you are learning, who you are hanging out with.

An Abundance Mindset looks at the world through a lens of opportunity. It’s about being a winner versus a victim. You play by your own rules. You act instead of react. You own it!

History is a wonderful thing. It tells us that recessions will always pass. This one will, too. Are you going to bunker down through it, or get stronger while everyone else sleepwalks? The choice is, as always, yours.

KAIZEN's Focus is your Focus........Where is your "Abundance Mindset" during this economic change?
